One of the BEST decisions I ever made was getting my little poodle, Chewy. Almost 12 years ago, I decided I needed a constant best friend and I have never regretted it. In the last 12 years, I have lived at 10 different addresses, gone through professional and personal rejection, painful loss and heartbreak, but my little friend has never left my side. I truly believe God created dogs so we would have a better understanding of what unconditional love looks like. Humans put conditions on everything, 'I'll love you until you do something I don't agree with'. That is how parents can reject their children, friends can abandon relationships, and marriages can fall apart. Dogs though, they love you unconditionally without judgement or expectations. They are content to sit faithfully by your side as a reminder you're not alone. I love dogs, but I love my Chewy to the moon and back.
This past fall, I almost lost him and while I was nursing him back to health, all he really wanted was for me to hold him. Days of me holding him as he slept and healed. My little dog loves me so much. His heart breaks every morning when I leave for work, but rejoices when I walk through the door at night. He has been my constant loving best friend for almost 12 years, so for that I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHEWY!! Mommy loves you so much! You are the love of my life and my world will darken the day you leave it. Here's to 12 more years!!
